the painting Separated

Separated

Weathering the winds wanting to set me adrift.
Prays out to my mother seeking spiritual direction.
She whispers her wish.

Then black smoke pointing East.
Her right hand lifts.
She sends me a Peace.

Trampled in the James Bay Frontier Canada

Trampled - a painting of a James Bay Frontier scene in northern Ontario Canada
Trampled 2.0

A bull chasing another;
Through swamp and pond.
A lust frenzied moose battle decided....

But like a snapped neck in a wind.
Bowing spirit gently fading away.

Trampled 1.0

They look at me but I'm not really seen.
Judge me without knowing where I've been.
Break my spirit and take away my dreams.
Everybody is always against me it seems.

They step on me like I have no feelings;
Pushing me aside to get to their dealings.
Their phony apologies have no meaning;
The oh sorries don't make for instant healing.

I'm trampled.
Runned down from the sidewalks of life.
And I stumble,
Falling over and over's my permanent strife.

I'm trampled.
Hopelessly shunned to the alleyways.
I crumble;
Tossed by the storms of my insane ways.

Swamped.
Lying in the mud watching time go by.
Tumbling.
Staring cars down in the eyes.
Smiling;
Ghosts I see in the sky.

Trying.
Crying with a smile on my face.
Trailing;
The rest of the world's lost in a daze.
I'm trampled;
With no way out of the wicked ways.

The Fall of the Love Song

The painting Falling
The day is short and the night falls fast and long.
In it a brisk wind whirls up a frantic treetop song.
An orange and a red smack and couple.
They spin and swirl, she whispers, he rustles.

Embracing.
They free themselves and fly.
Much higher than all the rest.
Tightly held in the moment of their death.
The leaves separate and fall.

Silly American - a satirical poem

Americans.
It was in the new New Year's news cast.
Brand spanking new news.
At war.
Saw it on CNN.

A cancerous sore.
You can't get a whore like that on shore.
That's for sure.
A cast of Yankee's dandy doodle.
Watch it on CNN.

Stupid bastards.
Head out to the corner store.
Get the newest candy bar.
Fudged nuts cast in wafer.
Knew that from a CNN commercial.

Cast From Heaven - a sad poem

Separated from this space.
In a dynamic light.
Fluorescent bright.
Over a very black sea.

Through grace,
Where everything is right.
Nothing left to fight.
For all eternity.

So I put on my happy smiley people pleasing face.
And I walk into the night.
So dark I lose sight.
You separated from me?

Painting Poem - A Forest Once Enchanted

Fluorescent green grubs.
In rotten cedar litter.
Prickly yellow shrubs.

Branches high in the sky.
Can still hear the creek's critters.
Atop the mountains when I can cry.

I miss you.
Miss you.
Issue.
Shoe.

I cannot feel her lips anymore.
Though her voice still makes me shiver.
The screeching echoes of a commodore.

I miss you.
Miss you.
Issue.
Shoe.

note: the painting Trick or Treat is presently on display at a Vancouver art show and a photo of it will be made available soon.

Song Poem - Words of an Angel

In one dark moment, defeated and alone;
I was struggling to find an answer, a reason to carry on.
My life of self-destruction has finally worn me down.
There's just nothing left to save me now, all hope is gone.

It's gonna' have to take one of God's angels;
To help show me a way.
It's gonna' have to take the words of an angel;
Promising to walk with me, every step and every day.

Then one day she came knocking; I opened up my door.
Man I wanted her more than anything but I wanted the bottle more.
And one night after drinking I woke up fully dressed on my floor;
Not yet realizing the pains that she'd endured.

It's gonna' have to take one of God's angels;
To help show me a way.
It's gonna' have to take the words of an angel;
Promising to walk with me, every step and every day.

Hiding back the tears she smiled and said “I love you.
Though you've fallen again my promises still stand true;
That no matter what it takes together we'll pull through.”
And when she kissed my hand it was then I finally knew.

It had to take one of God's angels;
To help show me a way.
It had to take the words of an angel;
Promising to walk with me, every step and every day.

It's as if a light just lit up, inside of me.
Knowing just how blesses a man can be.
To have a righteous lady sent to set him free;
With unconditional love for all eternity.

It had to take one of God's angels;
To help show me the way.
It's had to take the words of my very own angel;
Promising to walk with me, every step and every day.
